Rejection Criteria:

  • Frozen or fixed specimen

  • Specimen collected in anticoagulants other than EDTA or sodium heparin

  • Clotted or grossly hemolyzed specimen

Storage: 

  • Label specimen with patient's name and date of birth 

  • Complete requisition form with necessary information

  • Ship samples at room temperature (do not freeze or fix) 

Stability: 

  • Specimen viability decreases during transit 

  • Send to testing lab day of collection when possible
