Oncology Testing:
Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL)
-
Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is the most common childhood cancer, but also occurs in adults.
-
ALL develops from the overproduction of immature lymphocytes, leading to too many immature leukemic lymphoblasts in the blood and an imbalance in the normal percentages of cells.
-
FISH testing can help in identifying the genetic changes underlying this disease.
Sample Requirements:
-
Bone Marrow
-
2-5 mL in a sodium heparin (green top) tube for all tests.
-
5 mL in a EDTA (purple top) is acceptable for FISH and molecular testing only
-
Minimum: 1 mL
-
-
Storage: Room temperature if being shipped within 24 hours. Refrigerate if shipping will be delayed.
-
Stability: Sample is optimum if received within 48 hours.
-
Transportation: Room temperature (do not freeze or fix)
